In the hills above Cannes, Mougins is a historic hilltop town with Roman origins surrounded by rolling countryside, protected forest and national parkland. It is an ideal location, readily accessible from Nice and perfect for quick access to the sea and the entire Cote d’Azur. A pair of heavy, studded oak front doors open into a dramatic vaulted entrance hall with a double sweeping staircase that leads up to the bedroom accommodation. The reception hall leads through to the principal reception rooms which all face south, and have pale coloured stone floors and tall floor to ceiling French doors which open onto the beautiful main terrace and give quite spectacular views over the immaculate, manicured gardens and the rolling hills and valley below. There is a fine dining room off a modern but elegant kitchen, a sitting room with a big, working open fireplace and a drawing room, with an open fireplace extending to the ceiling. Accessed from the drawing room there is also a study. The ground floor provides superb proportions and although the rooms have large rooms and tall ceilings they retain an intimate feel. On the first floor is an impressive master suite and bathroom, with soft terracotta tiled floors and French doors opening onto a private terrace, giving distant views of the aquamarine Mediterranean Sea. The master suite occupies much of the first floor and there is also a very impressive fully fitted oak floored and panelled dressing room. On this floor there is a further room, currently used as a study and with its own terrace but which could be used as either a further dressing room, study or indeed a nursery. Stone stairs rise again to the second floor where there are four good sized en-suite bedrooms, all with lovely views.
